About tHE vera project

The Vera Projet is a Seattle based all ages art and music venu. The goal of this project was to create an aestetic and brand identity that matched the goals and motivations of The Vera Project. Over the course of 3 months I created a logo, selected brand colors, wrote branding guidelines and built a website to match the new branding.

Creating the Logo

I wanted to create a logo that fit with the stated communication goals, I spent a lot of time looking at punk band logos from the early 80's. This logo takes a lot of inspiration from band logos like Black Flag, The Ramones, The Clash, and even the logo for Converse.

Fonts & Colors

The color pallet selected is monochromatic. The black is intended to create a high contrast ratio and intended to be read as highly energetic. The blue was selected to symobolize trust, unity, and youth. I like using Open Sans in a lot of typography because it is simple and highly legible. Accessibility is something I often try to keep in mind when I'm creating an aesthetic.

Wireframing the Webpage

Before finalizing the high fidelity mockup I wanted to create a low-fi wireframe to solidify the look and get a good idea of placment, since this was kind of a unique way to use the grid system.

High Fidelity Prototyping & Code

The The final version of the mockup combined all the previous brand guidelines as well as the new logo, below we can see the unified system in place, and get a great sense of the direction of the brand.
